Character Creation
"We run a tight ship here. There are laws from the Guild (the shop), and there are traditions from the Fates (the setting). Follow the laws to get paid; follow the traditions to survive."
- Captain Philon
This community game strictly follows the community shop rules. Please ensure your character complies with the standard sourcebook limits (otherwise, any rules-legal character is welcome aboard!)
The Mythic Soul
In the Mythic Verge, the "vibe" often matches the ancient setting. To help your character blend into the world, we lean on the narrative concept of the Lethe Effect.
1. Species & The Lethe Effect
Suggested Appearance Only. No Mechanical Changes.
When you step through the portal into the Verge, the ambient magic of the realm creates a Mortal Mask. This illusion naturally translates your rules-legal species into something that fits an Ancient Greek aesthetic!
- Bring any rules-legal species you want.
- You are heavily encouraged to describe how the Lethe Effect alters your appearance when you arrive! For instance, a Dragonborn might describe their scales as "Hydra-scale armor," or a Tabaxi might wear the pelt of the Nemean Lion. Alternatively, humans, satyrs, and centaurs naturally fit right in. Have fun with it, and dictate your appearance in the moment!
2. Flavor & Perspective
Purely optional flavor to tie your character into the setting.
- Choose Your Origin
- Story Perspective
- Your Tragic Flaw
- The Demigod: You are the child of a Deity (Zeus, Ares, Hecate).
- The Champion: You were trained by a Temple or Order.
- The Iconoclast: You stole your power, or you serve a Primordial force.
The Sigil Walker (Visitor):
You are an adventurer who arrives from the City of Doors. You stepped through a portal onto the Talaria. Best for drop-in players!
The Verge-Born (Native):
You are of this world. You were born in Ephyra, Athens, or somewhere else nearby.
Every Greek Hero has a tragic flaw. You are invited to adapt your standard Bond/Flaw to one of these themes if you want to lean into the tragedy of the setting:
- Hubris: Arrogance before the Gods.
- Wrath: Uncontrollable temper.
- Loyalty: Blind devotion.
- Greed: Lust for power.
